April Ross
April Ross, a beach volleyball player from the United States is part of a select set of females who've had medals won in multiple Olympics. Ross will compete in Tokyo for her third Olympic medal with Alix Klineman, a first time Olympian. Ross wants to achieve more than just her first Olympic medal. And at the age of 39, it could be her last chance to achieve it. Her optimism is that she will be able to win top awards. If we do our highest or play well I feel like we'll be able to win that gold medal Ross said via NBC Boston. Also, I'll take the opportunity to try my chance. Ross born in 1982 and lived within Costa Mesa California with her sister and parents, began competing in athletics at Newport Harbor High School. Ross's athletic endeavors was continued by Newport Harbor High School where she was a part of a number of different sports. Apart from the indoor game, she also played basketball and jogged track as a pre-collegiate athlete. However, she was a standout at this level. In her college profile, she played outside of the hitter middle blocker and setter during her volleyball career at high school. The award was presented to her as the Gatorade National Circle of Champions Player of the Year in 1999 for her achievements. She also was awarded her the Orange County Athlete of the of the year for volleyball. Even though Ross and Klineman are a couple from 2017 onward, the former had already been a major participant on the beaches even before the pair formed. The fact is, she's won multiple big tournaments as well as one of her partners was a renowned volleyball player. Between 2007 and 2013 she played by Jennifer Kessy, who is now her coach. Kessy was Ross's co-coach at the 2009 World Championships. They were awarded a silver medal in the 2012 Olympic Games held in London. The Misty Maytreanor legendary team along with Kerri Jennings were the winners of gold. As fate would have it Ross was Walsh Jennings' new partner after May-Treanor's retirement. The pair were awarded bronze medals at the Rio Olympics for beach volleyball. Ross began her college time with the Trojans at USC following graduation from high school. It was a long time before Ross made her debut on the sand and turned professional. She had a great run in college. In 2000, as a freshman the Trojans' performance earned her the Pac-10 as well as NCAA the Freshman of the Year award. The Trojans were also able to make it to the Final Four. The Trojans were devastated through a tragedy in her life during her sophomore year. However, she was able to make it an All-American again. Through her two final years in the Trojans program, she guided the team to win a national championship each year. Ross was an excellent player on the court, and was awarded the Honda Sports Award in 2003-04 as the top female volleyball player at the college level. Ross studied international relations at USC. Margie Ross did not get to see her daughter's climb to fame as a beach volleyball player. Margie, Ross's mother, passed away in 2001, when Ross was an USC sophomore. The cancer was diagnosed as breast. She continues to hold her lost parent near and close. Margie is a constant source of inspiration for her both at and off the beaches.
